2024 Youth Playwriting Project

Calling all youth playwrights! Do you like writing scripts? Are you interested in learning how playwrights turn inspiration into a production?

We are seeking interested youth playwrights for our 2024 Youth Playwriting Project. During the workshop portion of the project, youth will research and write a one-act script that will premiere during the Spring One-Act Play Series.

The playwriting portion of this project is open to youth grades 7th through 12th.

Please note:

Only 6 playwright positions will be available for this project. Completing this form does not guarantee you will be selected as a playwright. However, there are many ways to participate in the creation of the script for the Play Series. All interested youth will be eligible and encouraged to participate in the various workshops and table reads that will occur during the 2024 Playwriting Project.

Workshop Registration Fee:
There is no cost to be considered for the workshop. If selected, registration is $100 for the first child and $50 for each additional family member. This fee helps to offset the costs for workshop materials, instructional resources, etc. Financial Aid is available for families who qualify.

Dates:

Playwrights will be announced the week of Feb 12th.

The workshop will begin the week of Feb 12th and will meet weekly until April 30th.

The tentative performance dates for Anne of Green Gables are May 9th, 10th, and 11th.

Artistic Team

Do you have interest in Directing? Do you dream about being a Costume Designer or a Props Designer?

We’re actively seeking interested youth designers, directors, and more to participate on the Artistic Team for the 2024 Spring One-Act Play Series! If you would like to be considered to join the artistic team for one or more of the three One-Act plays in our series, please complete the interest form below.

Age/Grade requirements for participating on the Artistic Team and/or Technical Crew vary by production and youth area of interest. Please contact info@saytheater.org with any questions related to the play series and/or youth eligibility.
